A: They were born in a log cabin!

    Several years ago, when Patty Harriman learned that a 19th century log cabin was for sale, she had the building moved to her family’s property in Silver Creek, Minnesota ­ located not far from Lake Maria State Park. After countless hours of reconstruction and repair, the building was named Silver Creek Cabin; and Patty had space to pursue her love of spinning and weaving. Soon the cabin began to fill up with gorgeous fibers, and Patty quickly attracted people who wanted to learn to spin and weave. She also heard from many knitters looking for quality yarn, and a business was born.

    The cabin offered lots of charm, including a welcoming perennial garden and a look at life in days past; but space was limited and Minnesota winters were cold. In July 2004, Patty moved the business, but not the cabin, to a location in downtown Buffalo. The additional space has allowed her to expand the inventory and provide classes and space for those who want to socialize while working on projects.

    Silver Creek Cabin offers a full line of products for spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, felting and dyeing. Customers will find a cozy nook for browsing in books and magazines, and everyone who comes is impressed with the sophisticated fibers available.

    We are located across the street from the House of Lo (Chinese Restaurant). With a beautiful view of Buffalo Lake just steps away from our front door you can sit outside (weather permitting) to enjoy a few moments of relaxation or reading. Bring your own bag lunch or walk across the street to the House of Lo. BJs Deli is also just one block away as well as a coffee shop and bookstore. Downtown Buffalo also has several antique and occasional stores.
